CCIE Lab Exam Information
CCIE is the highest level of Cisco networking certification. CCIE certification consists of two main parts and involves two exams: written exam and CCIE Lab exam. At this moment, there are available ten locations where CCIE Lab can be taken, including Belgium, Australia, USA, Japan, China, UAE, Hong Kong, India and Brazil. But not all exams are available at all CCIE Lab exam locations. CCIE Lab exam is a hands-on exam, which means that it requires the ability of working with equipment. CCIE Lab exam duration is eight hours. These CCIE Lab exams are designed to test the ability to configure networking equipment and corresponding software. CCIE Lab includes five different exams: Routing and Switching track, Security track, Service provider track, Storage Networking track and Voice Track. Before scheduling a CCIE Lab exam, you must obtain a valid passing score on the written exam. CCIE Lab exams cost $1250 each. You must pay for CCIE Lab exam for at least 28 days before the scheduled examination date. Payment for CCIE Lab can be made only by credit card or wire transfer, depending on location. Other expenses, such as travel and lodging are not included in the CCIE Lab exam cost. If you want to cancel the scheduled CCIE Lab exam or change the date or location, you must do this for at least 28 days before the scheduled examination date. Only in this case you will obtain full refund. This is why in case you need to obtain a visa to enter the state where will take place your scheduled CCIE Lab exam, it is strongly recommended to apply for visa 10-12 weeks before the scheduled date. This way, if your visa request is rejected, you will still have time to cancel your CCIE Lab exam for 28 days before the scheduled date and obtain full refund. You can view the results of your CCIE Lab exam online within 48 hours. If you consider that your CCIE Lab exam results are in error you may ask for a reread. For that, you must send an email to Cisco CCIE Lab within 14 days after your CCIE Lab examination date. For each reread you must additionally pay $250. The rereading process takes up to three weeks after receipt of payment. In order to pass CCIE Lab exam you must obtain at least 80% of total score. CCIE certified experts are required to pass recertification exams every two years to keep their status active. If recertification is not completed before the deadlines, CCIE certification will be suspended. During one year you have the chance to reinstate your CCIE status and if you don't do that you will become inactive and will have to pass all the certification process from the beginning. Before taking CCIE Lab exams candidates must familiarize themselves with CCIE Lab policies. They include a number of rules regarding confidentiality, exam violation and so on. For example you cannot bring with you anything into the CCIE Lab examination room (papers, laptops, pagers, etc.) and you also are not allowed to talk to anyone in the room, excepting the lab engineer.
